bias (n) /ˈbīəs/:
1. prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.
2. a 45-degree diagonal cut against the grain of woven fabric, resulting in a more elastic and fluid movement.
BIAS is a sustainable design consultancy founded by Sam, a Boston-based gender fluid textile artist, teacher, facilitator, coach, and social change maker. Sam has spent 15 years in social change movements that address poverty, misogyny, transmisogyny and homophobia, racism, domestic violence, educational inequities, and all of the ways these issues intersect.
Inspired by the resilience of trauma survivors and thought leaders of social change movements, Sam's work is a balance of critique and creation. BIAS' goal is to create a more just world. Whether it's a training workshop, consulting project, or custom garment, Sam's process centers curiosity, boldness, connection, and accountability.
